Applications development

Logica has a long history in applications development and migration.

 We are the prime contractor for Fire Control Systems and have developed the Fire Control Battlefield Information System Application (FC BISA) and the stand alone Fire Control Application (FCA).   The FC BISA is an advanced, safety certified, distributed command and control system for Indirect Fire and once introduced will be the primary means of fire control for all indirect fire weapons.  

The FCA, which improves accuracy, safety and usability of artillery and infantry ballistics firing solutions, has successfully been in operational British military service since June 2004.   

We are also the prime contractor to implement the Pilot Battlespace Spectrum Management System (PBSMS).  It is a highly sophisticated spectrum management system which allows all UK armed forces to make most efficient use of the electromagnetic spectrum dynamically and reliably.  

Logica is part of the ATLAS consortium delivering the £2.3billion Defence Information Infrastructure (Future) to the UK Ministry of Defence.  We are responsible for applications migration which involves reviewing, revising and in many cases re-writing elements of the hundreds of applications that are being migrated into the DII(F) environment.
